00CBAM

CBAM declarant for imports into Sweden and the EU.
We take the obligation. You keep importing.

BRDG is an authorised CBAM declarant. We can act as the CBAM declarant for your imports into Sweden and the European Union — taking on the CBAM responsibility and managing the declarations, documentation and reporting connected to your goods.

01What changed in 2026

From 2026, CBAM stops being a reporting exercise.

The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism puts a carbon price on imports of certain goods, so that imported products carry a cost comparable to EU production.

Companies importing more than 50 tonnes of CBAM-covered goods into the EU per calendar year must hold authorised CBAM declarant status, or appoint an indirect customs representative that carries the CBAM responsibility. Without one, covered goods cannot be brought in.

In practice this is a data problem as much as a customs problem. It requires embedded-emissions figures from producers outside the EU, matching customs records, and declarations filed on time.

With experience across both European import requirements and industrial supply chains outside the EU, BRDG provides a practical bridge between your suppliers and the European market.

02Goods in scope

Six sectors. HS code decides.

01

Iron and steel, including many downstream steel products

02

Aluminium and aluminium goods

03

Cement

04

Fertilisers

05

Electricity

06

Hydrogen

Scope follows the customs classification of your goods, not the product description. Send us your HS codes and annual tonnage and we will confirm whether CBAM applies.

03What BRDG handles

The whole CBAM obligation, not just the paperwork at the end.

01

Declarant status

We act as the authorised CBAM declarant for your imports, so you don't have to obtain the status yourself.

02

Declarations

Preparation and submission of the CBAM declarations connected to your imports.

03

Supplier data

Collecting and checking embedded-emissions data from your producers outside the EU.

04

Documentation

Customs and CBAM records kept aligned, so declarations and import entries match.

05

Reporting calendar

We track the deadlines and tell you what is due, and when.

06

Customs & logistics

The same team can run importer of record, customs clearance and EU warehousing.

04How it works

01

Scope call

You tell us the goods, HS codes, origin and expected annual tonnage. We confirm whether CBAM applies to you.

02

Set-up

We agree the import structure, the representation arrangement and the data we need from your suppliers.

03

Import

Your goods clear into Sweden or another EU entry point with the CBAM obligation covered.

04

Declare & report

We prepare declarations and reporting on the CBAM calendar, with documentation retained.

05Questions we get

Do I need to be an authorised CBAM declarant?

If you import CBAM-covered goods into the EU above the 50-tonne annual threshold, the goods must be covered by an authorised CBAM declarant — either you, or an indirect customs representative that takes on the CBAM responsibility. Below the threshold, the obligation does not apply, but you should still be able to show your volumes.

Can BRDG act as declarant instead of us?

Yes. BRDG is an authorised CBAM declarant and can take on the CBAM responsibility for your imports into Sweden and the European Union, so you can keep importing without applying for the status yourself.

What do you need from our suppliers?

Production data for the goods concerned — quantities, production route and embedded emissions where available. Where suppliers cannot provide verified data, default values apply. We tell your suppliers exactly what to send and in what format.

We already have a freight forwarder. Does this replace them?

No. We work alongside your existing forwarder and customs setup. Where it is simpler, BRDG can also handle importer of record, clearance and EU warehousing.

Which goods are covered?

Iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen, including a range of downstream products. HS code decides, not the product name — send us your codes and we'll confirm.

This page is general information, not legal advice. We will confirm your position against your actual goods and volumes.
